Councillor Mrs Sandra Miller


Sandra was born in Sandfields Estate, Port Talbot and moved to Neath when she married her Husband John in 1971. She has been blessed with two children and 3 grandchildren who are her pride and joy.

She attended St Joseph’s Comprehensive and left school with the basic education.  Like many children, she decided that she would work and take further education at the local college where she attained her English GCE and completed a shorthand and typing qualification. She went on at a later stage to attain a Degree in Politics and Social Policy.

She has been a member of the Labour Party for over 25 years and takes her membership seriously.  A true socialist.  Sandra worked within the local NHS and became a shop steward and full time representative during her 33 year’s service, she saw many changes during this time, not all for the better!

Since retiring, she has been able to put more time into her local politics and supporting   the local community.  Her role as a School Governor gives her great pleasure she has been a Governor of Melin Primary School for over 34 years when she became a Parent Governor, she has progressed to Chair of Governors in recent years.

Sandra’s interests include knitting and sewing, she has been unable to follow this due to having cataracts however she has now had the operation to correct this and looks forward to using her skills in these fields.

As a Town Councillor she represents the area in which she lives “Penrhiwtyn”.  She takes pride in supporting all of the activities that Town Council delivers as they have been well discussed and are a benefit for all of Town Council areas.
