Precept for 2010/ 2011

Neath Town Council has confirmed that their precept will not be increased for the next financial year.  This is a great achievement for Neath Town Council and the charge for a "Band D" will be £57.27 a year, just over a £1 a week for all the services it provides for the residents of Neath and its surrounding catchment areas of Llantwit, Cimla, Mount Pleasant, Melyncryddan and Penrhiwtyn.

As well as continuing with existing services, Neath Town Councillors are committed to the ongoing maintenance, improvements and security of their community halls, in addition to  updating or renewal of bus shelters and seats.  The Town Council has now embarked on a large project with the refurbishment of the Melyncryddan Community Centre.  This will be done in three phases. The first phase has now been completed with a new roof and new windows to the annex being installed,  along with facia work.  Phase two will start this year with the total renewal of the main hall and a car park facility.  A new memorial garden will be installed in memory of those who have died in all conflicts.  The Neath Day Centre is also having major refurbishment work done with a new kitchen being installed.  Work will also be carried out at the two allotment sites, including new fencing.

Town Councillors are also committed to renewing at least one new bus shelter and seat a year, and this year two new shelters have been replaced in the Mount Pleasant Ward with a further being replaced in the Cimla.
