Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School's Production of School of Rock - July 2019

Last night saw the Mayoress and I at Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School’s performance of School of Rock. WOW what a performance! Again we were amazed at the ability of the staff and children to put on a performance that would equal that of the West End. The acting and singing was superb, with quality that is unbelievable from those of such a young age. It would be wrong to single out anyone but the the part of Dewey Finn was such a demanding one that I must complement Ryan Protheroe on his flawless performance. CEFN SAESON YOU ROCKED!

Neath Polyphonic Choir Summer Concert - June 2019

Another delightful evening of music was spent at St.David’s Church for the Neath Polyphonic Choir Summer Concert. They entertained us with a wide selection of songs ending with the finale ‘Triumphal Scene’ (Grand March) from my favourite opera Aida. They were joined by special guest artist the talented Cowbridge born Soprano Ellen Angharad Williams and the delightful children from Catwg Primary School Singing Choir. We are so fortunate to have such talented performers available to us

Alderman Davies Church in Wales School's Production of The Wizard of Oz - June 2019

The Mayoress and I were fortunate to attend a delightful presentation of the Musical Wizard of Oz performed by the children of Alderman Davies church in Wales Primary School.
An annual event in which all the children of the school from year 2 take part, led by the leavers of year 6. I have, as a grandparent, attended these performances for over 10 years and have been amazed at the skill and enthusiasm of those taking part. This year was no exception. It was a wonderful, magical performance. Well done everyone involved, children and of course the hard working staff.

Mayor & Dignitaries at Civic Service

Civic Service - June 2019

On Friday, 14th June my inauguration took place at our lovely old Parish Church St. Thomas. A lovely setting for a lovely evening. The Service was conducted by our Town Rector Rev Lynda Newman, ably assisted by our old Rector Rev Steven Ryan who managed to combine the solemnity of the Civic Service and a touch of being a family affair. I really felt part of the family of the Neath Community and the family of the Benefice of Neath. I am so proud and honoured to hold this office of Neath Town Mayor

Neath Little Theatre's production of Glorious - May 2019

On Saturday 18th May, Sara and I were happy to accept an invitation to Neath Little Theatre’s production of GLORIOUS. The Play is a hilarious comedy is based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins. As a Patron of the Theatre I am forever amazed at the professionalism of the cast and backroom staff. This was no exception and it was impossible for me to retain my dignity as Mayor being reduced to uncontrollable laughter. A great night.

Christian Aid Concert - May 2019

On 14th May attended Christian Aid Concert at St. David’s Church Neath. A wonderful night where we were entertained by the young and enthusiastic youngsters of Alderman Davies Church in Wales School, a lovely selection of music by 14 year old Bethan Stevens and the older but not less enthusiastic members of Pelenna Male Voice Choir. The evening raised over £1000 for the charity.

Hereford May Fair - May 2019

One of our first duties as Mayor & Mayoress was to represent NTC at St. Ethelbert’s Fair (May Fair) at Hereford. One of the oldest fairs it dates back to the 8th.C Held during the First Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday of May it fills the streets of Hereford. An old tradition is followed every year in the Cathedral lawn when the Mayor of Hereford must pay the Bishop of Hereford 121/2 bushels of wheat. Neath Town Mayors are invited to the ceremony to mark our connection with our own fair and the Showman’s Guild.
