Cllr. Gareth Morgan

Ganwyd Gareth yng Nghastell Nedd ai fagwyd ym mhentref Bryncoch. Fel plentyn, buodd yn mynychu Ysgol Gymraeg Castell Nedd yng nghalon y dref. Yn dilyn cyfnodau yn byw ac yn gweithio tramor, mae Gareth wedi byw yn lleol am y ddeng mlynedd ar hugain diwethaf. Maen byw ger canol y dref ers 6 mlynedd.

Bu Gareth yn astudio ieithoedd modern yn y brifysgol ac yn dilyn cyfnodau yn gweithio tramor, dychwelodd i
r ardal ble buodd yn gweithio i gwmniau lleol. Llwyddodd Gareth i gymhwyso fel athro yn 1985 ai gyflogwyd mewn ysgol uwchradd yn Hull cyn derbyn swydd yn Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera ble bun gweithio am nifer o flynyddoedd. Ers 2017 mae Gareth wedi ei gyflogi fel swyddog rhanbarthol llawn amser i undeb yr athrawon UCAC.

Mae Gareth wedi cefnogi Plaid Cymru am nifer fawr o flynyddoedd ac y mae wedi gweithio
n lleol fel cynghorydd ers 2008. Ers 2017 mae Gareth wedi cael y fraint o wasanaethau fel cyngohrydd y dref dros ardal Llantwit a Merra. Buodd Gareth yn lywodraethwr ysgol am nifer o flynyddoedd. Yn ystod ei yrfa fel athro, mae Gareth wedi gweithio ar bwyllgorau lleol a chenedlaethol a wedi gwasanaethur undeb mewn sawl ffordd.

Mae Gareth yn gefnogwr brwd o ddigwyddiadau lleol a gweithgareddau diwylliannol a byd y campau. Maen cefnogi Clwb Rygbi Castell Nedd a Clwb Pel Droed Dinas Abertawe ers flynyddoedd lawer. Maen mwynhau mynychu digwyddiadau diwylliannol a chymdeithasol cyfrwng Cymraeg a Saesneg. Mae Gareth yn mwynhau rhedeg a nifer o weithgareddau awyr iach , yn cynnwys nofio a cherdded. Mae Gareth yn mwynhau teithior byd, cyn y cyfyngiadau angenrheidiiol diweddar wrth gwrs, ond maen awyddus bob amser i ddychwelyd iw deulu ai ffrindiau yng Nghastell Nedd.

Gareth was born and brought up in Neath. He lived as a child in Bryncoch and attended Ysgol Gymraeg Castell Nedd in the heart of the town. Following periods of living and working abroad, Gareth has lived locally for the last 30 years. He has been living close to Neath town centre for the last 6 years.

Gareth studied modern languages at university and worked abroad before periods of employment locally working in industry. Gareth qualified as a teacher in 1985 and taught at a secondary school in Hull prior to teaching for many years at Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera. Since 2017 Gareth has been employed as a full time regional officer for the teaching union UCAC.

Gareth has been a supporter and member of Plaid Cymru for many years and has served as a local Councillor since 2008. Since 2017 Gareth has been proud to serve as a town Councillor for Llantwit and Merra ward. Gareth has been a school governor for many years . During his years as a teacher, Gareth has also served on local and national committes and performed many roles in a trade union capacity.

Gareth is a keen supporter of local events and cultural and sporting activities. Gareth has been a supporter of Neath Rugby Club and Swansea City Football Club for many years. Gareth is also a keen jogger and enjoys many outdoor activities including walking and swimming. He is a keen traveller , prior to the recent necessary restrictions, but is always eager to return to family and friends in Neath.
