Cllr. Mrs Sheila Penry
Neath Town Council - Penrhiwtyn Ward

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our longest and most committed serving Member, Councillor Mrs Sheila Penry.

Cllr Penry has been an active Member for the Penrhiwtyn Ward in Neath since the creation of Neath Community Council in 1974.

Cllr Penry was Chair of Neath Community Council in 1991 and when the Community Council was identified as a Town Council in 1992, Cllr Penry was elected Mayor.

During 2021/22 and again in 2022/23, Cllr Penry was delighted and honoured to be nominated as Neath Town Mayor where she carried out her role with pride and was received with positivity throughout Neath and the adjoining communities.

Cllr Penry is the only Councillor to continually serve on both Neath Community Council and Neath Town Council.

A knowledgeable, experienced and loyal Member, Cllr Penry showed great care and compassion for her fellow citizens and community.

Cllr Penry will be greatly missed by fellow Members and staff of Neath Town Council.

Neath Town Council wish to pass on our sincere condolences to Sheila’s family and friends.
